Our response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Find out more about what the Biochemical Society is doing in response to the pandemic including changes to their events schedule and relevant volunteering opportunities.

Open access research with Portland Press

The Biochemical Society and its publisher, Portland Press, have signed a joint statement, committing to rapid and open sharing of research data and findings relevant to the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak in China. Additional papers will be added on a rolling basis.

Emerging Topics in Life Sciences, the journal co-owned by the Biochemical Society and the Royal Society of Biology will be having an issue devoted to emerging pandemics/viral epidemiology. If you would like to contribute a short review article or perspectives piece for consideration in the issue, please contact the Managing Editor of the journal by the 30 April.

The Biologist has launched a series of Q&As looking at how life scientists around the world have sprung into action to help understand, track, and treat COVID-19. Contact if you would like to be featured or have any information to contribute to this series.

The Physiological Society are inviting questions, comments and data from front line clinicians dealing with patients, with the intent to respond to and investigate, and provide an evolving understanding of the physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms of the virus.
