A workshop from the Heads of University Biosciences (HUBS) and the RSB focused on engaging students as partners in teaching and learning.

Event outline

Engaging students as partners in teaching and learning (T&L) continues to attract growing attention and critical debate, including in relation to enhancing the learning process itself and empowering students as T&L change agents. Student partnership can include collaborative projects, curriculum co-design and student voice initiatives. Partnership can also extend beyond teachers and students to include other stakeholders e.g. those involved in T&L support in institutions, and employers involved in authentic work-integrated learning projects.

This event will explore pedagogies associated with learning partnerships in HE from different perspectives. By the end, participants will have a better understanding of how partnerships function and the challenges and benefits of partnerships within biosciences education.

Lightning talks

Within the workshop we will welcome participation from attendees through our lightning talks session.

Would you be interested in contributing a lightning talk (7 minutes, plus 3 minutes for discussion) about an aspect of teaching and learning partnerships you have experience of in your institution? Any topic relating to teaching and learning partnerships is welcomed e.g. student-staff collaborative projects on any aspects of teaching, learning and support, experience of curriculum co-design, industry and employer partnerships, student voice and staff-student liaison initiatives etc.

Please provide a maximum 250 word summary of your proposed T+L partnership related topic for a lighting talk when registering by selecting the Upload an Abstract button, and selecting the presentation option from the drop down menu.

Workshop organisers will select 6 to 8 talks that showcase the diversity of teaching and learning partnership experiences participants have to share at the meeting. Workshop organisers will be in touch to confirm if your summary has been selected and will provide further information.
