Celebrate British Science Week with some hands-on science activities
To celebrate British Science Week
, the Royal Society of Biology (RSB) is teaming up with Ysgol Stanwell School
to run a Gopher Science Lab
(GSL) event for pupils and teachers.
By taking part in simple, fun, hands-on science activities during lab sessions, pupils will be encouraged to investigate new ideas, explore their natural curiosity and engage with science to find out how and why everyday things work.
Who is the event for?
This event is open to Primary teachers, Secondary science teachers and KS2/KS3 pupils (years 5, 6 and 7). Teachers may attend this event individually, or with a small number of pupils from their school. However, please note there are a limited number of pupil places available.

New Gopher Science Lab resources
This event also marks the launch of our brand new Gopher Science Lab resources. Thanks to generous support from the Welsh Government's National Science Academy
, the RSB has developed 10 brand new practical activities for Gopher Science Lab and an online training course to support teachers in delivering the existing activities.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
As well as participating in the lab sessions and gaining hands-on experience in demonstrating some of the activities, teachers will also take part in a short CPD
session. During the CPD session we will demonstrate our new resources (which will freely available to teachers in Wales following the event) and discuss how the GSL activities can be used in both primary and secondary schools. This event will also give teachers the opportunity to network with teachers from other local schools.
This event is free
for teachers and pupils to attend.
For further information about the event, or to register your interest in attending, please email Tiffany Giddings
by 27th February.
