Making Life Sciences Happen in Scotland - Biology Careers


Audience

College and university students; biology teachers; careers advisors

Aim

To communicate and strengthen the understanding of the diverse biology based career opportunities in Scotland. To listen and learn from students, teachers and careers advisors what types of ‘toolkits' would help them making informed decisions about their own careers or advise others.

Survey will be conducted prior to workshop and post launch of toolkit to demonstrate outcomes have been achieved and determine impact of the workshop

Programme

11:00-11:15     Welcome and Introduction from RSBS

11:15-11:45     Overview of Life Science Strategy and key deliverables - bringing the strategy to life

12:00-13:30    Showcase of the Diverse Types of Biologist in Scotland

  • Attendees have option to visit posters each providing an overview of a Biology based career
  • Buffet lunch with opportunity to review results of survey and provide feedback on how posters can be converted to toolkit.

13:30-14:00    Careers in Biology spanning more than one type of Biologist

14:00-14:45    Feedback session to inform development of toolkit

14:4 -15:00     Conclusion
