For those who are new to, or would like to improve their skills in, volunteer support and management.
Volunteers give their time for free to get involved in statutory, community and charitable work and are an integral part of the life of most community organisations. They bring a huge amount of capacity, knowledge, enthusiasm and empathy, but in order for it to work their involvement needs to be well planned and managed. This course will equip you with knowledge and skills needed to do this.
- What is volunteering and what type of roles could be developed
- Creating roles and recruiting volunteers - processes to follow
- Legal aspects - what rights do volunteers have?
- Support and management - realistic methods and examples
- Expenses, references, support on offer
Participants will be provided with volunteer management templates, sources of support and opportunities to discuss real life situations or to raise concerns.

Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA) helps with volunteer management, recruitment and support. Karen has worked in the charity sector for over 30 years and has spent over 15 years working with local organisations to develop their volunteering good practice.
