An online talk from Dr Christopher E Mason, Cornell geneticist and NASA/Space X researcher
Join the East Midlands Book club and Cornell geneticist and NASA/SpaceX researcher, Dr. Christopher E Mason, for a truly epic exploration of the future of genetics and space exploration. He argues we have a moral duty to explore other planets and solar systems and will give a tantalising insight into just how we can go about doing it.
He envisages that the ingenuity that has enabled us to build rockets and land on other planets, will be applied to understanding and then redesigning genomes to meet our needs, so that we can sustainably inhabit those new worlds. Taking lessons from his involvement in the NASA Twins Study and Bio-sequencing mission on the ISS. related missions, he will lay out a 500-year plan for undertaking the massively ambitious project of reengineering human and microbial genetics for life to reach and survive on other worlds.
