A Biochemical Society online workshop
Bioscience research is key to our ability in tackling some of the biggest global problems, from food security and the climate crisis to novel therapeutics and antimicrobial resistance. Unlocking the impact potential of this research can often require taking them forwards as translational or commercial projects to develop useful and practical services and move these discoveries into the public domain.
The commercial pathway presents opportunities for industry collaboration and launching of new companies to move innovative technologies into society and build sustainable, long-term impact of research outcomes, while also providing key evidence for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and upcoming Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF). The process for turning concepts into companies, however, can be exceptionally difficult.
The Biochemical Society is collaborating with Spin Up Science to run an online workshop that will equip researchers with the skills necessary for real world research translation.
