Guided tour of the national Diptera Collections at the Natural History Museum.
This joint branch event from Kent, Surrey and Sussex and London branches is a rare chance to see behind the scenes, and view part of what is probably the world's finest Natural History Collection.
2019 is Year of the Fly, and as part of celebrating all things fly-related we will be showing RSB members round the National Diptera collections. Tours are informal and there will be plenty of discussion on the history and uses of the collection. The NHM team fully expect RSB members to arrive armed with questions, so, given the weird and wonderful nature of flies, who can say where the discussions will take us!
The event has been timed to coincide with European Researcher's Night (ERN) and members have the option to stay on after the tour and attend the events taking place in the public galleries, which will be staying open late. A full programme of events for ERN 2019 should appear on the NHM website in due course.
On the day
Attendees should access the Museum via the Staff Entrance on Exhibition Road, and report to the visitor reception desk, stating that they are visiting Zoe Jay Adams.
This event is now fully booked.
