Self-guided visit to the museum, including a short introductory talk.
The Bethlem Museum of the Mind documents the history of the Bethlem Royal Hospital, the first institution in the UK to specialise in caring for people with mental illness. Through its collection of art and historic objects the museum tells the story of mental healthcare and raises awareness of the lives and experiences of people with mental illness.
Please meet at 12:45 in the foyer, as the talk will start at 13:00 and last 5-10 minutes. Following the talk, guests are welcome to enjoy a self-guided tour of the museum. The museum closes at 17:00.
Travel informationThe nearest train stations are Eden Park (30 minutes from London Bridge), followed by a 15 minute walk or the 356 bus (towards Shirley) or East Croydon (15 minutes from London Victoria), followed by the 119 bus (towards Bromley) or the 198 (towards Shrublands).
