A series of online talks and panel discussion, hosted by the Society for Applied Microbiology (SfAM)
OverviewTimed to coincide with the COP26 summit, this event will provide a series of talks and a panel discussing how microbial biotechnology can provide sustainable solutions to improve the environment by recovering resources from waste products and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels by providing alternative sources of chemical feedstock.
The event will demonstrate how microbiology allows for a more sustainable ‘circular' economy in many industries, preventing environmental damage by reducing the need for extraction of other natural resources.
Speakers will provide talks on the conversion of food waste into biosurfactants and other useful chemicals, waste water treatment and recycling of rare earth metals.
