Quantitative proteomics represents a powerful approach to the comprehensive identification and quantification of proteins expressed under different biological settings. The field is evolving exponentially and is accompanied by rapid technological advances, especially in the processing of samples, mass spectrometry and analysis software. The analytical power of quantitative proteomics has greatly contributed to our understanding of cellular processes in a broad array of biological contexts, from unicellular to multicellular organisms and from normal physiology to complex diseases.
