COVID-19 has highlighted the need for multidisciplinary approaches, knowledge and teams to combat infectious disease in the 21st century. The UK Aerosol Society has coordinated an on-line Focus Meeting entitled ‘COVID-19 and related inhalational infections: Current trends, future challenges and opportunities in aerosol science'.
Who should attend?
The hope is the meeting generates a forum for like-minded scientists from across academia and industry spanning different scientific disciplines to share knowledge and offers a platform for increased adoption of multidisciplinary approaches.
The series of free online sessions, each headed by an internationally renowned expert, explore how appreciation of aerosol behaviour can impact understanding the source and transmission mechanisms of infectious disease and ultimately guide control and preventative measures.
- Session 1: Quantifying and measuring the sources of respiratory infection (Wednesday 30 September)
- Session 2: Understanding exposure and transmission in the indoor environment (Wednesday 7 October)
- Session 3: Factors influencing disease in humans and development of experimental models (Wednesday 14 October)
- Session 4: What pharmaceutical and risk mitigation strategies are available? (Wednesday 21 October)
