Young scientists and engineers will question MPs and Ministers about the issues that matter to them at Voice of the Future 2019
Voice of the Future
(VOF) is held in the Boothroyd Room; a unique room which has heard prime ministers as well as eminent scientists and experts give evidence to MPs. At VOF the tables are turned, the committee seats usually occupied by MPs are occupied by young people and the MPs sit in the witness seats ready to answer their questions. Participants will emerge with a better understanding of how the Parliament and the Government functions.
Who can attend?
A number of organisations take part in VOF and each invite their own members to represent them and ask MPs questions. The RSB is looking for 6 members to take part in VOF and representative the Society. Successful applicants may get the opportunity to ask a question on behalf of the RSB on the day.
If you are selected to represent your organisation, you may not get to ask the exact question you submitted due to time restrictions and potential repetitions.
What to ask?
This isn't a scientific conference, but a discussion about science and policy, so questions need to be simple and broadly relevant to the MPs taking part: a Minister; a Shadow Minister; MPs on the Science & Technology Select Committee; a Chief Scientific Adviser (i.e. a Government official). Read news stories, blogs or watch previous VOF events
for inspiration or read last year's questions
