A number of Fellows and Members of the RSB have been recognised in the latest Birthday Honours announcement.

Sir John Sulston FRSB leads a distinguished group of bioscientists and clinicians in this summer’s list, being made a Companion of Honour for his services to science and society.

Professor David Coates FRSB, previously an honorary secretary of the RSB council and chair of the RSB Accreditation committee, has received an MBE for services to biology.

Professor Charles Godfray FRSB, Hope Professor of zoology at Oxford University and former president of the British Ecological Society received a knighthood for services to scientific research and providing scientific advice to government.

Professor Alimuddin Zumla CBiol FRSB, Professor of infectious diseases and international health at University College London has received a knighthood for services to public health and protection from infectious disease.

Professor Chris Elliott FRSB, Pro-Vice Chancellor at Queen's University, Belfast has received an OBE for services to the agri-food supply chain.

Professor Laura Elizabeth Green FRSB from the University of Warwick has received an OBE for services to the health and welfare of farmed livestock.

Professor Clive Page FRSB, Professor of pharmacology and head of the Sackler Institute of Pulmonary Pharmacology at King's College London, received an OBE for services to Pharmacology.

Professor Malcolm Mason FRSB has received an OBE for services to the NHS and his work in cancer research.

Professor Pamela Taylor MRSB, Professor of forensic psychiatry at Cardiff University, has received a CBE for her work.

An array of experts and advocates for the use of science evidence were honoured, including Lord Nicholas Stern FRS, whose analysis of climate change impacts has been internationally influential. Lord Stern has been made a Companion of Honour for his services to economics, international relations and tackling climate change.

Dr Julie Maxton, executive director of the Royal Society, received a CBE for services to science, law and education and Tracey Brown, founder and Director of Sense about Science, was awarded an OBE for services to science.

Dr Beth Thompson, head of policy (UK and EU) at the Wellcome Trust has received an MBE for services to science, and Dr Tony Juniper, a fellow at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership has received a CBE or services to conservation.
