The Society of Biology Science Communication Awards are intended to reward outreach work carried out by young scientists and established researchers to inform, enthuse and engage sections of the general public. The 2014 Awards are now open for applications from bioscience researchers at UK universities or institutes who are involved in science communication.

The Awards are intended to reward outreach work carried out by young scientists and established researchers to inform, enthuse and engage sections of the general public. There are two categories of award:

  • New Researcher (Prize £750)
  • Established Researcher (Prize £1,500)

The Society is looking for researchers who communicate their own work well, and who represent their own field strongly in the science communication world. Professional science communicators, paid for science communication work beyond their role as a scientist, are not eligible to apply.

The Society would like to thank the judges Dr Steve Cross, Dr Liz Granger, Lisa Jamieson, Farrah Nazir. Judge Liz Granger won the New Researcher award in 2012 and has written a blog on her experiences.

Full application details are available and the application deadline is Friday 30th May 2014. Please contact Karen Patel if you have any questions.
