The Animal Science Group (ASG) is a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Royal Society of Biology.

It brings together representatives of RSB member organisations and observer members with an interest in animal science.

The purpose of the ASG is to advise on and represent the Society’s views on animal science, and to develop a coordinated approach to policy and practice in research, industry, funding, education and outreach, in accordance with the Society’s strategy and priorities.

The group is currently chaired by Professor Clare Stanford FRSB, has 24 members and 4 observer organisations.

The objectives of the ASG:

• Providing and growing a network that is inclusive across the breadth of the animal sciences. The Group should act as a focus and contact point for UK animal science communities.
• Providing a forum for discussion, debate and information exchange between Group members about current issues in animal science.
• Enabling input that informs the policy and strategy of the Society on animal science, and that contributes an animal science perspective to the Society’s activities in education, publications, outreach and careers.
• Organising the annual RSB Animal Science Meeting, including appropriate engagement with government and regulatory bodies.
