Science "too important" not to be on TV, says Brian Cox

Science is "too important not to be part of popular culture", according to Professor Brian Cox.

‘Love zoo’ hits the right note at Green Man festival

This summer the Society entertained more than 1,100 festival goers with hands-on activities related to hormones and mating.

The Society delivered a range of activities from within 'the Love Zoo', a mobile library that has been specially converted for the annual Green Man music festival near Abergavenny in Wales. Originally a folkmusic festival, Green Man has for many years included a large science and learning area called Einstein's Garden.

Links strengthened at annual Parliamentary meet

Parliamentary Links Day, once of the biggest events in the Society's calendar, was again a huge success. Around 150 MPs and members of the scientific community convened in the House of Commons to discuss science and public trust, the theme of this year's Links Day.

The Society of Biology has been awarded £69,200 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for a new project that celebrates great biologists around the UK.

A project to improve the status and valuation of higher education (HE) teaching has been launched by the Society, in collaboration with other science and education organisations.
