Personalised 1:1 Careers Support for Professional Grade Members (AMRSB, MRSB, FRSB)

As part of your membership, you can now book a one-to-one careers consultation designed to support your professional development at any stage of your career. Whether you're exploring your next move, updating your CV, preparing for an interview, or simply wanting to talk through your options, our careers guidance service is here to help.

These appointments are tailored to you, your experience, your goals, and your ambitions. You’ll receive practical advice from a careers professional who understands the biological sciences landscape and the wider job market.

Appointment Types You Can Book

A flexible session for members at any stage of their career. You might have a clear goal, or you may simply want help exploring ideas, understanding your options, or gaining clarity about what you want to do next.

A one-off appointment can give you direction and personalised actions, but career development often benefits from ongoing support. You may find that a follow up session helps you build on your progress.

A detailed review of your CV, with feedback on structure, clarity, and impact. We’ll look at how effectively you’re showcasing your skills and experience, and how well your CV aligns with the roles you’re targeting. This is especially useful if you’re applying for new roles or updating your CV after a career break.

One appointment can significantly improve your CV, but refining it for different roles often takes time. You’ll receive tailored suggestions and next steps, and you may benefit from a follow up session once you’ve made updates.

Please note your CV must be uploaded in advance.

A structured practice interview followed by constructive feedback. We’ll explore how you present your experience, how you structure your answers, and how you can use techniques like STARR to strengthen your responses.

Mock interviews are most effective when part of a wider preparation plan. You’ll leave with clear actions to work on for your general interview practice, and may choose to book a second session to refine your technique or practice for an interview you have secured.

Career Support

While each session is designed to be valuable on its own, career development is rarely a one-off conversation. Most members get the best results when they:

  • Act on the guidance provided.
  • Update their documents or prepare further.
  • Return for a follow up session to build on progress.

You’ll always leave with clear goals, practical next steps, and signposting to relevant resources, so you can continue developing between appointments.
