Develop your skills and knowledge in Quality Management
The course comprises of 4 sessions:
- Introduction to Quality Management which will cover a brief history of quality management including discussion on definitions, benefits and drawbacks
- Governance including Quality assurance, proficiency testing programmes, quality indicators
- Risk Management
- Compliance including process design, Non-compliance, errors, investigations, Audit
Who is this course for?For anyone new to the work place, aspire to be a manager or is new to a management role and who wishes to develop their quality management skills and knowledge in quality management.
Course tutorNigel is Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science and a Chartered Scientist. Currently employed at Birmingham Women's & Children's NHS Foundation Trust, as the Quality Manager and Clinical Governance lead for the West Midlands Regional Genetics Service.
In 1985 Nigel qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science and have since worked in many roles; more recently as Head Biomedical Scientist in Clinical Chemistry at Birmingham Women's Hospital and since 2008 as a Quality Manager. Nigel has been a member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences since 1983 and is currently Chair of the Birmingham Branch committee and until recently also Chaired West Midlands Clinical Laboratory Quality Managers Association. Five years ago Nigel became a tutor on the IBMS Certificate of Expert Practice in Quality Management course which is an e-learning course run by Ulster University. He is currently the West Midlands Council member for the Institute of Biomedical Science.
Certification and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
A certificate of attendance will be provided after the event.
We evaluate all of our training events, to make sure that we maintain a high quality of training.
This event has been approved by the Royal Society of Biology for purposes of CPD
and can be counted as 18 CPD points

Unfortunately, the Royal Society of Biology is unable to offer refunds on training courses that have been attended. We do, of course, welcome and encourage any feedback from a course and will continue to improve the service we offer.
Cancellation with over 10 working days' notice = 100% refund, less 25% admin fee
Cancellation with 5-10 working days' notice = 50% refund, less 25% admin fee
Cancellation with less than 5 working days' notice = 0% refund
The Royal Society of Biology reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a training event up to 10 working days before the event is due to take place. A full refund will be issued.
If the Royal Society of Biology is required to cancel or reschedule a training event with under 10 working days' notice due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued and 50% of attendee prepaid travel will be compensated.
