Photography Competition

The theme of the 2026 Royal Society of Biology Photography Competition is Colours of Nature.

The competition will be open from 10 March until 5 May 2026.

Please note that the competition is slightly different this year — please read the sections below to ensure you are eligible to enter.

This year's theme is Colours of Nature.

This topic could mean so many things and we would love to see your interpretation.

Whatever you choose, we want you to showcase animals, plants, or fungi within their wider ecosystem — focus on the biodiversity of your chosen habitats whether that is a small space or a wide-open landscape.

The photographs you send us could zoom in on a subject in extreme close-up using macro-photography, or show a wider perspective on land, underwater, or even from above.

We invite all amateur photographers to send us up to six photographs.

Please read the terms and conditions for our 2026 Photography Competition.
