Organisational Membership

Membership of the Royal Society of Biology is open to learned societies, membership organisations, corporate bodies, and councils operating in the biological sciences, as well as to schools and colleges.

Depending on the organisation, and the type of applicable membership, organisational members receive a range of newsletters and information from the Society, and are able to remain involved with our work by attending special events.

Please contact membership@rsb.org.uk if your organisation wishes to join the RSB.

Full Organisational Membership

Full organisational members are typically biology-led, and have individual members themselves.

The RSB acts on behalf of all Full and Supporting Member Organisations (MO), and they are invited to become directly involved in our work wherever possible.

  • We run a variety of courses and workshops and online training — these are offered at a discounted rate of up to 50% for staff and members of our Full Member Organisations
  • We offer free event approval for CPD purposes – suitable for one-off events, workshops, and conferences
  • Discounted fee for training course approval
  • Wider representation through the RSB's membership of other organisations and coalitions
  • Member Organisations' newsletter – monthly email containing updates on RSB and Member Organisation activities and other news of interest
  • Full Member Organisations are invited to attend and are eligible to vote at the AGM
  • Opportunity to publicise events and activities on our website, in newsletters, and across relevant social media channels
  • Job advertising discount on our Job Board
  • Individual members of the RSB's Full Member Organisations can take advantage of a 50% reduced rate on RSB membership for the first two years, enabling them to take advantage of a range of additional benefits, including our CPD programme and our professional awards
Member Organisations have the opportunity to help formulate the UK's position with respect to the biological sciences. We create policy task forces, which meet to discuss and formulate responses to Government and other consultations. Member Organisations are invited to take part in these meetings, and contribute to the response, which is submitted on behalf of all RSB members.
We work with Member Organisations to gain maximum return, jointly and individually, for collaborative input to various outreach projects. By acting as the central facilitator in a number of bioscience education, careers, and outreach and engagement projects for a range of audiences, we aim to enhance and develop coordination and communication with and between RSB Member Organisations and their stakeholders.

The membership fee for Full Member Organisations is based on the income of the organisation, as outlined below:
