
Associate membership (AMRSB)
We welcome bioscience graduates to our associate grade of membership.
If you have been awarded a degree containing at least 50% biology in the final two years of study, or have a minimum of three years' experience working in a full-time biology related position, you are eligible to apply for associate membership.
Those who can demonstrate equivalence through other education or training can also apply — please see below for details.
If your application is successful, you will be elected at the next election, held quarterly on the 1 January, 1 April, 1 July, and 1 October, and will be able to use the postnominal letters AMRSB.

If you are a member of one of the Society's Full Member Organisations you will also be eligible for a 50% reduced rate*** for the first two years of RSB membership.

If you do not have a degree, the RSB will consider applications for associate membership if you have been awarded:
- A biology based qualification equivalent to the QAA Framework for Higher Education Qualification (FHEQ) level 6.
- A biology based qualification equivalent to the QAA FHEQ level 5 and has obtained at least one year of professional experience working full time in a biology-related position.
- A biology based qualification equivalent to the QAA FHEQ level 3 or 4 and has obtained at least two years' professional experience working in a full time biology-related position.
- Any applicant who has obtained a minimum of three years' experience working in a full-time biology related position.
- Any applicant who has completed two years' CPD awarding at least 50 credits per year through our CPD scheme.
- Any applicant who has completed a bioscience NVQ or SVQ at level 4 incorporating the application of biological science.
- Any applicant who has completed a Bachelor of Education with science as the principal subject.
