Support Us
Make a donation
The Royal Society of Biology is continually looking to increase its reach throughout the UK and overseas. By directly supporting our members and the wider public, we can ensure the future is bright for the biosciences and biologists.
From grant schemes and annual competitions, to professional training and education resources, the RSB is inspiring and supporting biologists at all levels.
School students
We aim to inspire people from an early age to have an interest in biology. With more funding we can improve our free school resources for Biology Week events and throughout the year.
Early career members
We offer a helping hand to those embarking on a career in the life sciences, from travel grants to discounted training courses. With your gift, we can offer more of this financial help.
Local groups
Our outreach and engagement grant scheme allows members to apply for funding to put on local biology events.
Ways to donate
The simplest way to donate is through our website. You can also find more information about how to leave a gift in your Will below if you would like to contribute to long term goals of the Society. Please contact our membership team, if you have any questions or would like to speak to someone about the best way to donate.
Leave a gift in your Will
Your gift will help us to support future biologists and continue to inspire new generations. The RSB is continually looking to increase its reach throughout the UK and overseas.
Find a solicitor
Making a Will is one of the most important decisions you make. It is more affordable and straightforward than many people realise. We recommend speaking to your local professional advisor if you're considering making or amending your Will. You can visit the Remember A Charity website to find a solicitor in your area, who will be able to advise you on leaving gifts to charities when making a Will.
The RSB has partnered with Remember A Charity – a group of over 140 charities set up to raise awareness of the importance of having a Will and leaving gifts to charities.
Type of gift
No matter how big or small, leaving a gift in your Will to the Royal Society of Biology will make a difference.
- Unrestricted gift: a gift in your Will which is unrestricted is always the most helpful, as it allows us to use your gift where there is greatest need at that time.
- Restricted gift: if you are particularly passionate about a specific area of our work, you could restrict your legacy gift to it. Please contact our membership team if you are considering this option to ensure the wording of your will matches our activities, otherwise we may not receive your gift.
Tell us about your gift
If you have decided to leave a gift to the Royal Society of Biology in your Will and would like to let us know about it, you can fill in a quick Legacy Pledge. Doing so will assist the Society in its long-term planning and we would value the opportunity to thank you and keep you up to date with our work. The pledge is not binding and is simply a statement of your present intentions.
Contact us

Other ways to help us
There are plenty of ways to help the RSB with our charitable work, other than through monetary donations.
- Write for our award-winning quarterly magazine The Biologist. Get in touch with the magazine's managing editor by email for more information or with your article ideas.
- Shape your Society by joining the RSB Council or one of our many advisory committees. Any vacant positions are advertised on our internal Jobs Board.
We welcome input at any level. This can be from organising an event to suggesting a topic. We aim to actively promote collaborations between organisations and support all organisational members, no matter what their budget or time restrictions, to engage with the public.
