Teaching Policy Network

The Royal Society of Biology’s (RSB) Teaching Policy Network (TPN) is a platform for educators to contribute to education policy, inform key discussions, and shape standards across the education sector. The TPN works alongside our Teaching Policy Advisory Group (TPAG), giving teachers and educators at all career stages a voice in shaping the future of teaching. We aim to help teachers develop research leadership skills, moving from anecdotal contributions to evidence-based advocacy.

Members can engage without extensive time commitments. Participation is flexible, and members can choose their level of involvement.

The network aims to include teachers, Initial Teacher Education (ITE) representatives, and RSB members from across the UK, representing a wide range of specialisms from early years to higher education.

Get your school to join RSB's Schools and Colleges Affiliation Scheme (SCAS) for just £66. Benefits include:

We are inviting all SCAS members to encourage staff to join our Teaching Policy Network. Email education.policy@rsb.org.uk for further information

In the short term, RSB aims to establish connections within the teaching community and share best practices. We will engage directly with teachers to inform policy discussions, specifically on biology and science curriculum and qualifications, teacher recruitment, and retention and training. Our aim is to foster a stronger teacher community, promote professional development, and positively influence education policies.
