Outreach and Engagement
The London branch are working with The Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) to help make a practical improvement in social mobility for high-achieving young people, coming from low-income backgrounds with an interest in STEM. All London branch committee members have signed up to provide support through the SMF e-mentoring scheme and are now calling for biology professionals across regions to get involved.
As an e-mentor you would support sixth formers, giving them the opportunity to have a 1:1 relationship with a professional in their chosen career sector, communicating via email. The mentoring relationship is extremely valuable in helping to guide mentees through their university applications and in exploring their professional interests further.
