The Royal Society of Biology is licensed by the Science Council to confer the Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) professional recognition award. This award is open to all those who are committed to the biological sciences in academia, industry, education and research. Typically, successful applicants have at least one year of professional experience post-level 3 qualification.

Registered Science Technician is part of a spectrum of professional recognition awards from the Royal Society of Biology that allow progression to the higher awards of Registered Scientist and Chartered Status which are aimed at biologists with a Level 5 (such as HND, Foundation Degree) or Level 7 (such as an MSc) qualification or their equivalent respectively.
